Unity In The Family

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. ~Ps 133:1-3 (NIV)

1. The Importance of Family Ties
But those who won't care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.
~1 Tim 5:8 (NIV)

“The man who brings trouble on his family will have nothing at the end.”
~Prov 11:29 (TEV)

2. Keeping the Family Ties

Do Not Be Too Critical
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. ~Matt 7:1-2 (NIV)

Do Not Be Too Calculative
“So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers. Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left." ~Gen 13:8-9 (NIV)

Honor One Another
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.” ~Rom 12:10 (NIV)

Practice the Royal Law
“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” ~Matt 7:12 (NIV)
